Those looks are among the many that went down in MTV Video Music Awards red carpet history. The annual event, which this year was held on Sunday, is known for being a forum for celebrities to experiment with their personal styles and often end up pushing the boundaries of awards style costuming.
This year's carpet did not disappoint, as performers and nominees alike flocked to New York’s UBS Arena in feathered, bedazzled, embroidered and lacy getups.
